Today we are opening a new chapter in relations between Serbia and Norway, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic Monday and thanked Norway for its support, especially in the modernization of Serbia’s energy sector, Fonet reported.

I thanked Parliament speaker Masud Gharahkhani for the fact that Norway has always been ready to help Serbia, not only with its experiences in aligning with the European Union (EU) standards and regulations, but also in expert and financial assistance to our reform processes, Vucic wrote on Instagram.

The Serbian President began Monday a two-day visit to Norway and the state delegation includes Serbia’s Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic.

According to earlier media reports, the Serbian Government signed with the Norwegian consultancy Rystad Energy an agreement on conducting an analysis of the electrical energy sector in Serbia and giving the Government guidelines for the reorganization of the energy system that collapsed last winter.

The agreement has also been described as “a possible preparation for the privatization of (Serbian power company) EPS.”
