Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday that he would receive the booster dose of coronavirus vaccine on Saturday or Wednesday, most likely at the Belgrade Fair, and added he considered it irresponsible for someone who is a member of Serbia's Government or medical staff to reject immunisation.

The first case of the coronavirus in Serbia was officially reported in March 2020, and mass vaccination started in January this year. Vucic received the first dose of Sinofarm in April.

He rarely wears a mask, even at larger gatherings in the country where physical distance is impossible.

„I don’t know who in the Government has not been vaccinated, but I consider it extremely irresponsible towards the citizens. You have the right to be irresponsible to yourself, but not to the citizens. That is all I have to say,“ Vucic told reporters during the ceremony of introducing the first Swiss-made fast train in Belgrade.

He added that „it is such a degree of irresponsibility that makes me speechless.“

Speaking about the situation with Kosovo, Vucic said that Serbia was waiting for the European Union’s response to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani’s statement that Kosovo would not change the Constitution to enable the formation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities (CSM).

„I think that is a question for the European Union. If they don’t want to change that, then we understand their message. We will wait for the EU’s response. We will not change our Constitution in that part (referring to Kosovo as part of Serbia’s territory) either, and what will we do then? Will they kill and expel the Serbs,“ Vucic asked.
