During his meeting with the Quinta countries' ambassadors to Serbia on Monday, President Aleksandar Vucic said he was so irritated that he told an envoy: "I'm asking you, are you normal?!"
„Are you telling me where our units will go across our territory? Are you normal, man?! I’m asking you, are you normal?! Can you imagine in what kind of emotional state I was when I said that to the ambassador of one of the most powerful countries in the world,“ Vucic told the pro-regime Pink TV.
He did not say which country the ambassador came from.
Earlier on Monday, Vucic met the ambassadors of the Quinta countries – the US, UK, Germany, Italy and France to Serbia. His office statement said they demanded the de-escalation in Kosovo north following local Serbs’ protest over Pristina decision to implement a reciprocal measure on temporary license plates on vehicles crossing from Serbia.
Commenting on a tweet saying Vucic had never yelled or insulted an ambassador face-to-face, except on a TV, and without mentioning their names, the President’s media advisor Suzana Vasiljevic said Vucic was usually very polite, „but when it was needed he did not hesitate to raise his voice.“
After the meeting with the ambassadors, Vucic only reiterated his country was committed to peace and the Brussels Agreement but added that „we will never allow any humiliation of Serbia or its people.“
Vucic’s office’s statement, however, did not cite any of the ambassadors from the meeting.
