Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic asked the Serb member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina's tripartite Presidency Milorad Dodik and all political forces in the semi-autonomous entity Republika Srpska (RS) to participate in the work of joint institutions in BiH and protect the interests of the Serbs and RS in the best possible way, a statement from Vucic's cabinet said.

The statement added that Vucic said that every decision was up to the RS leadership, but that he asked Dodik and all political representatives in RS to consider his proposal because it was clear that some political factors were threatening the stability of the entire region with untruths and insinuations, with which they tried to blame the Serb people and RS.“

„My request to President Dodik and all political factors in RS is not a request to agree with anything or to vote for anything; on the contrary, I request that the chairs at which RS representatives should sit should not be empty and that they should fight in the best possible way for the interests of the entity and Serb people,“ Vucic said.

Vucic offered to explain his proposal to President Dodik and all institutions and political representatives in Banja Luka, the entity capital.

He added the US sanctions against Dodik and other RS officials were „a terrible precedent“ and that they could bring catastrophic consequences for the development of relations between the three nations and the two entities in BiH, but also in the region.

„Sanctions have always brought a problem, never a solution,“ Vucic said. He agreed with Dodik that peace and stability were crucial for the entire region.

Dodik said an unprecedented political and media campaign was waged against the RS and the Serb people in BiH, „not only in Sarajevo but also in numerous Western centres of power.“

He added it was almost impossible for the Serbs to fight for justice and consistent implementation of the Dayton Agreement due to the unilateral and biased approach, primarily of the US.

Vucic’s office statement said that he and Dodik also discussed Serbia’s future financial support to RS.

The two also agreed to hold a joint meeting of the two governments on January 27, when strategic economic projects and further improvement of cooperation in all areas would be decided upon.
