Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that his country would not have the economic success it has without Germany and that without its support it would not be able to increase its economic growth.
German factories have always brought benefits to local communities, which is why the private sector has also progressed, said Vucic at the opening of the Continental Automotive factory in Novi Sad.
He thanked German Chancellor Angela Merkel for supporting Serbia because, noting that she always helped the country attract investors, resolve some regional issues and „paved the way“ for good cooperation between the two countries.
„When I saw what will be done in this factory, the only thing I can say is that I am proud of the country we live in and the people who work for the Continental,“ said Vucic.
He added that 500 people will initially work at the Continental factory, and reminded that no factory has been built in Novi Sad for 35 years while now there are several.
Vucic announced that the first institute for artificial intelligence will be established in Novi Sad in April, which shows Serbia’s readiness for new and innovative technologies, and that as of October it will start with dual education at Novi Sad faculties.
