The Presidents of Serbia and Russia, Aleksandar Vucic and Vladimir Putin, launched the production of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine at the Torlak Institute in Belgrade.
Vucic and Putin spoke at the ceremony via video link before Institute CEO Vera Stojiljkovic started the production line.
The components needed to produce the vaccine arrived in Belgrade on Thursday and the first batches of the Serbia-made vaccine could be distributed within the next 10 days. Serbia is the first European country to manufacture the Russian vaccine.
