North Macedonia's Government declared a state of crisis in a part of the territory for up to 30 days due to the increased risk of migrants' transit and to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The earlier decision on the crisis on the southern and northern borders, introduced in 2015 at the beginning of the migrant crisis, expired on Wednesday at midnight.

Stevo Pendarovski, Northern Macedonia’s Macedonia’s President and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, ordered the General Staff’sStaff’s Chief to withdraw the Army from the southern and northern borders.

Besides declaring a crisis on the country’s borders for a month, Zoran Zaev’s Government suggested Pendarovski should decide to engage the Army again during the crisis.

The General Staff of the Crisis Management Center was recommended to start preparing an action plan for the country’s southern and northern borders.
