Premier League's Southampton Football Club will get a new owner - the company Sport Republic, whose leading investor is Dragan Solak, Founder and Chairman of Advisory Board, United Group, within which the Sport Klub also operates, Sky Sports reported on Tuesday.

The Sport Republic, an investment company in sports and entertainment, will inherit the current majority owner, the Chinese Gao Yisheng, who became the owner of 80 percent of the club’s shares in 2017. Sky Sports said the deal is worth 100 million pounds.

Southampton, currently the 14th team in the Premier League, ten points above the relegation zone, has been looking for a new owner for months.

According to Sky, Sholak is allegedly behind a new company that will try to gain ownership of some other clubs in other leagues, similar to the owners of Manchester City.

The same sources report that Rasmus Ankersen, former director of Brentford, and Henrik Kraft, an investor based in London, were also involved in the takeover of Southampton.

The Premier League should first approve the purchase of the club since the British Government previously demanded stricter rules.
