Serbia’s Government is close to making a decision to annul all permits given to the Rio Tinto company, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic told TV Pink.

She pointed out that the Government is close to the decision to violate everything that the former authorities committed to in 2004 and 2006, which affected the business with Rio Tinto.

According to her, it is necessary to estimate what the debts of Serbia would be if the opening of the mine of the company „Rio Tinto“ was banned.

She accused politicians who now oppose Rio Tinto at the protests, as well as environmental activists, of being paid by foreign foundations and services such as Rockefeller.

The Environmental Uprising Movement reacted to the statements of Brnabic, saying that before any decision is made to annul agreements with the company, everything that was signed must be made available to the public.

“We have to see who signed what and when, so that we would know, if any compensation is requested, who will pay for it,” the Environmental Uprising said in a statement.

“Last night, the deadline given to the Government of Serbia to make all agreements, decisions and possible agreements signed with Rio Tinto available to the public, and to annul the Government Decree on the Spatial Plan for the Jadar project, which allows Rio Tinto to obtain a building permit, has expired,“ the activists said.
