Predrag Kon, an epidemiologist and a member of Serbia's Crisis Team for curbing the coronavirus epidemic, said on Monday the only solution to an increasing number of infected people was a partial lockdown. Some Team's members believed that should be in place for two weeks minimum, Kon added, referring to the two last weekends during which only food stores, pharmacies and petrol stations worked. Speaking to the state RTS TV following a meeting of the Team's medical part with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Kon said there could not be a compromise and that the doctors could not change their plan to break a chain of the virus transmission. "The only measures that can do that are those we had over the weekend," he said. "The numbers (of dead and newly infected) are on the rise, pressure on hospitals as well. We must stop that as soon as possible. The only effective step is sudden measures which some may see as drastic," Kon added.
