Serbian regime launches fresh assault on United Group founder Solak

The Serbian regime has launched another assault on United Group founder Dragan Solak, accusing him of defending the Kosovo Albanians and plotting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

According to N1 Program Director Igor Bozic, the Serbian authorities need to find someone to blame for everything. Newsmax Adria Director Slobodan Georgiev added that the regime thinks that “since he lives far away and has a nice life you can do whatever you want to him”. “I think that the only thing that he hasn’t been linked to is the coronavirus and COVID deaths in Serbia. I think that’s the only thing that Solak and his media have not caused,” he said. Solak’s United Group includes N1 TV, Nova S, the Nova and Danas daily newspapers.

Pro-regime tabloids have published some 40 stories about Solak since April, claiming that he has ties with the Belivuk organized crime group, alleged attempts to jeopardize Serbia’s fuel supplies, plots with the Croats, demeaning victims of war-time operation Storm, revenge against the Serbian Orthodox Church, a plot with Albin Kurti against former US Ambassador and Kosovo envoy Richard Grenell who, according to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, is one of the few Americans who does not blame Serbia.

That latest claim was made after a Danas daily journalist appeared on N1 and voiced his opinion. Vucic responded asking why Grenell is a problem.

Igor Bozic believes that the only reason for the attacks on the United Group founder is to exert influence on the media. Georgiev added that “the goal is to stop us producing this program”. “They want to push the man into a situation when he gives up on the country of his birth and shuts down all his operations,” he added.

Bozic said: “They can’t exert influence on our media but they can endanger the group co-owner and try to alter our professional approach but that won’t happen”.
