Serbian President rejects meeting with environmental activists

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic rejected a possible meeting with the environmental activists who set up a tent camp in front of his offices.

The activists have been camping in front the of presidency for several days, demanding a ban on the mining of lithium.

“I try to talk to people whose word means something. I see no sense in talking to people who are there for self-promotion and nothing else. I was wrong about some things and I will speak about that after the elections. I deeply regret my political mistakes,” Vucic said at a ceremony marking the start of construction of the Sabac-Loznica road.

Zdravko Ponos, the opposition United Serbia coalition’s candidate for president, visit the tent camp in front of the Serbian Presidency building to express his support to the protesters on Monday.
