Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday that the economy would get a new package of aid from the government but warned that it would not be as generous as the aid provided to companies in 2020.

Speaking on the pro-government TV Happy, he said that no decision has been taken yet on a possible new deferment of tax payments which were carried over from last year as part of the aid to the economy.

Vucic said that companies will get more support possible in the form of two or three payments of half the minimum wage. He said that guarantee schemes for the economy would be extended.

The Serbian President announced sector aid for tourism, bus transport companies and travel agencies, specifying that the aid would total about a billion Euro. He said that he had long talks with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali about the aid package. According to Vucic, more than a million people will be covered by the aid package. He said that more aid for pensioners will be discussed.

Vucic said that investments totaled 2.9 billion Euro net in 2020, adding that this is “unbelievable considering what the year was like”.
