Serbian Justice Minister Maja Popovic told parliament on Wednesday that setting up a national data base is part of the country’s efforts to combat and prevent terrorism.

She said the draft law on the national data base which is being presented to parliament is part of activities to meet the standards set out in Chapter 24 in Serbia’s pre-accession negotiations with the European Union. She said the data base will be accessible to the Internal Affairs and Foreign Ministries, the Security Information Agency (BIA), Military Security Agency (VBA), Military Intelligence Agency (VOA) and the Department to Prevent Money Laundering, Public Prosecution, Organized Crime Prosecution and other state bodies who need information to prevent terrorism.
