After his election as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic said that this position is like coming home to him. There is not much difference between foreign and domestic politics today, every foreign topic is also an internal one, Dacic said, adding that Serbia must maintain a difficult diplomatic course and stay on the right path.

Serbia’s foreign policy course has been the target of pressure from all world powers since the war in Ukraine began.

The head of Serbian diplomacy, Ivica Dacic, said in a guest appearance on RTS’s Jutarnji dnevnik that he said that one struggles to achieve what one has projected as their goal, for some the function can bring nothing, and for others, some functions that are not so important bring room for political action.

„For me, this function is like coming home, I know all the people working in the Foreign Ministry. Now there is not much difference between foreign and domestic politics, every foreign topic is also an internal one,“ Dacic pointed out.

Speaking about the license plates and moves of Pristina, Dacic said that it is all a question of how determined someone from the West is to sanction what they verbally threaten to do.

„Pristina doesn’t feel fear, that’s why there is no progress in the dialogue, thus opening the door for unilateral steps. This with the license plates is just one of the unilateral decisions – they declared independence unilaterally, formed an army unilaterally, they are not applying the Brussels Agreement unilaterally,“ the head of Serbia’s diplomacy said.

At the moment, less than 90 countries recognize the independence of Kosovo

„When you draw a line, the numbers are not good for us in Europe, but they are good for us in the world. Some of the countries don’t know what their position is on this issue. Out of 193 countries in the world, 83 votes is the most that Kosovo can count on, and they need 97 in the UN,“ said Dacic and added that this will not essentially solve the problem.

He noted that President Aleksandar Vucic was told that they cannot outvote us in the UN, but that we ourselves should agree that Kosovo should enter the organization.

„We are not looking for a political solution here, we are only looking for solutions how to deal with this in Serbia. It’s one topic when we talk about territorial integrity in the world, and another when we have to look at everything through our territorial integrity,“ Dacic said.
