Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Tuesday that the new central public sector salary system would bring order to wages paid from public fund.

He told the first meeting of the coordination body implementing the Iskra system that this brings changes to the way salaries were calculated. “This means better, more efficient control, less chance of mistakes and makes sure the data is right,” he said, adding that the system would be introduced in stages into segments of the public sector. He said this would change the way that both the public and private sectors operate.

“The centralized system allows precise planning, budget spending on salaries, controls costs, improves visibility and access to data and allows easier personnel management,” the minister said.

The Iskra project will be underway up to the end of 2023 with some 3,000 people working on it.
