Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Monday that Serbia has enough money to raise pensions, public sector salaries, the minimum wage and pay pensioners 20,000 Dinars (1 Euro – 118 Dinars) next February.

“Despite the coronavirus pandemic wee had an unexpected budget surplus of some 60 billion Dinars in June and July,” he said adding that the planned deficit of 198 billion was limited to 38.5 billion at the end of July, the Finance Ministry said in a press release.

The minister is quoted as saying that the economy achieved a growth of 1.7 percent in the first quarter of this year and 13.4 percent in Q2 bringing its semi-annual growth to 7.5 percent.

According to the minister, the state is determined to share the good results with its citizens. “We were always determined to help those who need help the most because of the pandemic,” he said.
