A leading Serbian epidemiologist said on Monday that about 20 percent of new coronavirus cases are pre-school and school age children.
Dr Predrag Kon, a member of the government pandemic response team, told the pro-regime TV Pink that the percentage is twice higher than what schools report which are based on absence from classes. According to Kon, the monitoring system confirmed that the coronavirus is present in schools at all levels mainly because of parties and gatherings.
The doctor said the situation can’t improve without imposing restrictions, including a 10 day lockdown of everything but grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations and vaccination.
