The Serbian Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the country’s Ambassador to UNESCO Tamara Rastovac Simashvili has been elected to head that organization’s Executive Board.
A statement said that the ambassador will head that body over the next two years.
It quoted Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic as saying that her election is a huge success for Serbia and its diplomatic service.
The Executive Board is one of the three constitutional bodies of UNESCO (the others being the General Conference and the Secretariat) and is elected by the General Conference. Serbia was elected to the board in 2019 for a four year term.
