The remaining T-72MS tanks and BRDM-2MS armoured reconnaissance vehicles, which Russia previously donated to Serbia, were handed over Sunday at the Serbian Army barracks "Mija Stanimirovic" in Nis.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defence, Nebojsa Stefanovic, who said that the donation of 30 tanks and the same number of armoured vehicles was worth around €75 million.
Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko said that the cooperation between the two countries, especially the military-technical one, is developed and that it has a future.
On a different location, at the „Oresac“ range near Vrsac, Serbian and Russian special forces held a tactical exercise with live ammunition, the Ministry of Defence announced.
The exercise consisted of four segments, and the special forces first presented the reconnaissance procedures in order to gather intelligence about terrorist groups from the air, water and land.
The exercises were attended by Serbia’s Defence Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, Chief of Staff of the Serbian Army General Milan Mojsilovic, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Defence of Russia General Nikolai Pankov, Deputy Minister of Defence of Russia Colonel General Alexander Fomin and Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.
