Serbia, Egypt sign defense cooperation memorandum

Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic signed a cooperation memorandum on Tuesday with his Egyptian counterpart General Mohamed Ahmed Zaki.

A ministry press release said that the memorandum signed in Cairo creates condition to promote and develop the two countries’ defense cooperation.

Stefanovic is quoted as saying that the Joint Military Committee provides an opportunity for Serbia to present the capabilities of its defense industry. He said both countries want to cooperate in training their special forces and train Egyptian military personnel at the Military Academy in Belgrade and other military schools.

The press release said that General Zaki expressed interest in promoting overall military cooperation as well as cooperation between the two defense industries and the military education sector.

Stefanovic’s delegation included the head of the General Staff intelligence department Brigadier Miroljub Cupic and Military Health Care Department chief Colonel Dr Radivoje Andjelkovic.
