A memorial service for the Serbs killed and missing during the Croatian army and police 1955 'Storm' operation held in the Church of St. Mark in Belgrade organised by the 'Tear' on Thursday.

Twenty-six years ago, during the ‘Storm’, more than 200,000 Serbs left Croatia, fleeing the advancing Croatian army and police.

The association said the search for the missing was prolonged and that now it seemed to be at a halt.

The families again asked both Serbia’s and Croatia’s authorities to speed up resolving the missing person issue.

After the memorial service, a group of people, most of whom were ten or 15 years old in 1995, carried a banner reading: ‘Crime That Lasts,’ and after laid wreaths and flowers on the monument in the central Tasmajdan Park while the names of those who died in the ‘Storm’ were read from the loudspeakers.

At the same time, Croatia celebrated the victory in the 1991-1995 independence war in Knin, once the heart of the Serb rebellion.

On Wednesday, the central manifestation, the Day of Remembrance of the ‘Storm’ victims, was held in Belgrade’s Zemun district.
