Serbia’s Foreign Minster Nikola Selakovic met in Caracas, at the end of his official visit to Venezuela, with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The two officials discussed the further strengthening of traditionally friendly relations between Serbia and Venezuela.
Selakovic stressed the importance of a Serbian Foreign Minister’s visit to Venezuela after 12 years, especially as it is taking place on the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Venezuela.
He thanked President Maduro for Venezuela’s firm and principled support regarding Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and this country’s unequivocal and unconditional support in international institutions on issues of utmost national importance.
Selakovic and Maduro exchanged opinions on the current regional and global issues and on ways of overcoming these challenges while preserving national interests.
Selakovic noted that economic relations do not accompany the excellent political relations between the two countries and expressed hope that his visit and the signed agreements will contribute to advancing economic cooperation between Serbia and Venezuela, the Ministry press release said.
