The SafeJournalists network warned on Friday of increasingly frequent attacks on journalists by extremist groups in Serbia.
A press release following the attack on Danas daily reporter Snezana Congradin on Thursday said that the police has to provide greater security to journalists during protests.
Congradin told SafeJournalists that she thinks her attacker was either a member or sympathizer of the Levijatan extremist group. She said that she received message of support following the attack which included pictures of the attacker with Levijatan leader Pavle Bihalji.
The network called for Congradin to get whatever protection is necessary. “We are warning the competent bodies and public that attacks on journalists by extremist groups have intensified over the past month and that the police needs to protect them.
