Kosovo daily Koha Ditore said that Serb List official Milan Radoicic turned back from the Brnjak crossing because of a warrant issued for his alleged involvement in the assassination of Kosovo Serb opposition leader Oliver Ivanovic.

The daily said that the Kosovo police confirmed that Radoicic showed up at the Brnjak crossing on Thursday but turned back as soon as the police started their identity check. “The suspected man, a Serb (while entering Kosovo) turned back into Serbia while the police were checking him. The check determined that he is a suspected wanted under a court warrant,” the police report said. Radoicic’s escape back into Serbia was also confirmed by Prosecutor Rasim Maloku.

The warrant for Radoicic’s arrest for the Ivanovic murder was withdrawn but was later reinstated by the Special Prosecution. Radoicic, a deputy leader of the Belgrade-backed Serb List party was blacklisted by the United States.

The Serb List reacted to what it said was an attempted “groundless arrest” saying that the persecution of Serb political representatives not controlled by Pristina was continuing. A statement said that the arrest warrant does not include any evidence nor does it list any illegal activities committed by Radoicic. It said that this was not the first time that “secret arrest warrants for Serbs” have appeared at border crossings.
