Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that, in 2022, IT sector exports will exceed 2.5 billion Euro and the surplus will exceed 1.5 million Euro, and added that every other new job in the past year was in the IT sector.

If he hadn’t invested in transforming this sector, if we hadn’t introduced programming in elementary schools or invested in science and technology parks, we would not have had every other new job in this sector in the past year, Brnabic told the conference ‘Implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Traditional Industries’ held in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS).

When it comes to the availability of electronic services, out of a total of 190 countries compared Serbia is 40th, said Brnabic, noting that Serbia adopted a Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in 2019 as well as that, in the past year, the state worked on improving the IT sector and on creating conditions for its progress and development.

“In 2021 we founded a national Institute for Artificial Intelligence when over 30 experts returned to the country from abroad to work in Serbia,” said Brnabic, adding that the university has already introduced five new artificial intelligence master programs.

PKS President Marko Cadez said that AL is not used much in innovations and in the creation of new products and services and that the aim is to connect programmers with big companies, which will result in new products.
