Several patients who suffer from serious illnesses have been on a hunger strike for six days in front of the Presidency of Serbia and have only one request, to be allowed to be treated with cannabis oil.

They say that their request is not to legalize cannabis and release dealers on the streets, but to release those who use it for medical purposes from punishment.

„People say ‘you want marijuana to be on the shelves’, I say that marijuana should be on the shelves of pharmacies, that a person should be able to go to their chosen doctor, who will prescribe a cannabis-based medicine based on a precise list of diseases which will be forwarded to the state pharmacy, and buy a drug made by the state,” said Mladen Nikolic, one of the protesters.

“We are the first to argue that arrests of cannabis dealers should continue, but give those who are sick a cure, do not judge people who are sick,” he said.
