A senior Russia official is among the Serbian nationals blacklisted by the US administration, the Nova daily newspaper said on Wednesday.

It said that Alexander Babakov, deputy speaker of the Russian State Duma and President Vladimir Putin’s former envoy, was listed on the Treasury Department web site as an individual under Ukraine-/Russia-Related Sanctions with Serbia as his address.

Nova said that the date that Babakov was given Serbian citizenship has not been disclosed, adding that there are 37 individuals and companies under US sanctions for a number of reasons including corruption.
