N1’s journalist team was attacked and even stoned while covering the enthronement of the new Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Bishop in Montenegro Sunday morning but luckily no one was injured.

N1’s reported Aleksandra Tolj-Ruzic did live coverage of the unrest and clashed between the demonstrators and the police which accompanied the enthronement ceremony in the city of Cetinje and when she and her cameraman wanted to record the teargas being thrown by the police a group of demonstrators ordered them to turn back. After turning back, several stones could be heard falling around her on the video Aleksandra recorded for her Twitter feed.

She then confirmed that they were indeed attacked by a group of young men.

The clashes with the police began early Sunday morning when the Bishop was approaching the monastery where he would be enthroned. Aleksandra Tolj-Ruzic reported hearing automatic gunfire and explosions around the blockades around the city which the demonstrators raised banning anyone entry.

The 20 rounds which were heard being fired were supposed to have been fired into the air.

Russian broadcaster Sputnik Serbia published the video of a helicopter carrying the bishop Joanikije to the monastery. He was then surrounded by the police and special agents protecting him from the possible gunfire.

Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic posted a video on Twitter showing a clash between Montenegrin Presidential Adviser Veselin Veljovic and the opposition Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) MPs and the police in Cetinje. Veljovic was then was officially arrested on the order of the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Zdravko Krivokapic.

This attack was followed by a clash between the police and protesters. Protesters threw stones and other objects at the police, who retaliated with tear gas. A total of five people were arrested. It was also announced that several people were injured, but their condition is not known. Both protesters and police were among the injured.
