Montenegro on Saturday opened its borders to EU and Israeli citizens, who can enter the country without any COVID-19 requirements.

Until now, only citizens from the region’s countries were able to enter without a coronavirus test or a vaccination certificate.

Health authorities have said that 30% of Montenegro’s adult population has received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 20% have been fully immunised.

Currently, Montenegro has the lowest infection rate since July 2020. Last week, of the average 1,274 persons tested, 3.73% have been positive. There are 683 active cases and the daily number of new infections keeps falling.

Since the start of the pandemic, Montenegro has registered 99,000 coronavirus cases and 1,591 COVID-19 deaths.
