Serbia’s Mining and Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic spoke Wednesday with a delegation of French businessmen – MEDEF about cooperation in the field of energy and mining, especially in the field of renewable energy sources (RES) development, said the Ministry in a press release.
They discussed potentials investments by French companies in this sector in Serbia, new technologies, energy transition and the decarbonization process.
An agreement was reached to set up a joint working group that will comprise representatives of the Mining and Energy Ministry, Serbian national power company (EPS), Serbian electricity distribution company (EDB), members of MEDEF and French Embassy, which will focus on concrete, priority projects, said the press release.
“We want the latest technologies and companies that have experience in the development of the RES sector, and I think there is an opportunity to cooperate. The strategic partnership agreement between Serbia and France gives us the opportunity to work on joint projects faster and more efficiently,” the press release quoted Mihajlovic as saying.
French Ambassador to Serbia Pierre Cochard said that there is mutual interest in improving cooperation in the field of energy and that French companies are interested in participating in the energy sector reform, especially at present day when energy is a central topic.
