Serbian Environmental Protection Minister Irena Vujovic said the Ministry’s budget is constantly increasing because the Serbian Government is aware of the importance of environmental protection.

Vujovic told the opening of the Look Up Conference on energy and environmental protection that a program for the development of circular economy has been adopted, and that a series of laws on environmental protection is to be adopted.

“The Serbian Government is aware of the importance of environmental protection. The Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans is basically closely linked with the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, it supports transition, stimulates economic growth and supports reforms to bring Serbia closer to the European Union (EU) market,” said Vujovic, adding that these are the Serbian Government’s priorities.

“Our Ministry’s budget is constantly increasing. In 2020 it was 2.7 billion dinars (1 Euro – 118 Dinars) while the 2023 budget will amount to 18 billion,” said Vujovic.

The Minister noted that Serbia needs some 12.7 million euros alone to align with the EU acquis, and that is only within Chapter 27, and that a greater part of this sum are investments.
