Mining and Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic said that there will be no restrictions or shortages next winter because the state will do all in its power to secure sufficient amounts of energy and fuels for the economy and households.

“We are now importing between five and seven per cent of total daily consumption, in winter that will be over 20 per cent. This is partly due to the crisis, which is global, and is partly the fault of those who irresponsibly managed the Serbian national power company,” Mihajlovic’s office quoted her as saying.

The Minister added that the construction of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad pipeline in September next year will enable Serbia to purchase gas from other suppliers, reducing its dependence on Russian gas.
