Microbiologist Milanko Sekler said on Wednesday that opening restaurants and cafes makes no sense because the epidemiological situation in Serbia is bad.

“I’m not sure that the opening of restaurants and cafes makes sense. If the measures are eased we are endangering the vaccination effort,” the Kraljevo Veterinary Institute expert said adding that an economic slump is a normal thing in a pandemic because lives can’t be sacrificed.

Sekler said that vaccination is the only way out of the pandemic which, according to him, means the public should be educated about the importance of inoculation. “They have to be told that things will not get better in the country without vaccination,” he said.
