A Serbian media organization on Friday condemned attacks on journalists and media in the northern Vojvodina province.

The Coalition for Freedom of the Media warned of attacks launched by “obscure web sites claiming to be media outlets”. “We feel that the accusations coming from the NSuzivo site directed against the 021 portal, Luftika and VOICE and its editor in chief Dinko Gruhonjic and that Independent Society of Journalists of Vojvodina (NDNV) are more proof of targeting and demeaning media and organizations doing their jobs professionally in line with the Serbian Journalists’ Code,” a press release said.

It added that the accusations that those media are engaged in anti-state activities and are not transparent are “a call for a lynching” and called prosecutors and the police to react to the dangerous claims of media involved with criminals.

The Coalition is made up of the Association of Media, Association of Online Media, NDNV, Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS), Business Association of Local and Independent Media Lokal Press and the Slavko Curuvija Foundation.
