Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said on Tuesday that Belgrade is abusing the Non-Aligned Movement to distort the truth about Kosovo.

Her Facebook post blamed Serbia under Milosevic for the violent breakup of Yugoslavia and “fralgrant violations of the basic principles of the movement”. Osmani also called Serbia a colonizer country with a destabilizing policy that denies genocide and other activities opposed to efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region. “Serbia proved that this is counter to the values that the Non-Aligned Movement is built on,” she wrote.

The head of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo Petar Petkovic said that Osmani’s criticism of the Non-Aligned summit in Belgrade was a reflection of her anxiety, adding that “it’s clear that she is losing support internationally”.

Osmani recalled that a number of Movement member states recognized Kosovo and called the rest to abide by the ruling of the International Court of Justice which states that Kosovo’s declaration of independence did not violate international law and not Serbia’s propaganda which is rooted in the Milosevic mentality. She added that Serbia has to give up its efforts to undermine Kosovo’s international position by lobbying against its membership in international organizations and for the withdrawal of decisions to recognize it.
