Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Friday that the fate of the missing is one of the conditions for an agreement with Serbia.
“We said clearly that this is a priority issue. I am saying that there will be no agreement with Serbia if this issue is not resolved,” Kurti is reported to have told a meeting the families of missing persons.
Kurti said that a new law is being drafted to provide mechanisms to deal with war crimes and added that the possible excavation of grave sites is being discussed. He said that more than 1,600 people are still listed as missing, two thirds of them Kosovo Albanians.
Delegations from Belgrade and Pristina have discussed the fate of missing persons at a number of meetings as part of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in Brussels.
