Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko accused the European Union (EU) and Washington of being the ones behind the conflict between Pristina and Belgrade because they benefit from tensions in the Balkans, Beta reported.

The Ambassador told the Russian Soloviev Live TV channel that Pristina is the one behind the provocations in Kosovo, and that the US and the EU are the ones behind Pristina.

“Washington benefits from a simmering conflict, it benefits from keeping the situation on the verge of collapse,” he said.

The Russian Ambassador said that in this case, just like in the case of Ukraine and anti-Russia sanctions, contrary to its interests, the EU is following Washington’s instructions.

Kharchenko said he will never believe the statements of Americans and Europeans that they cannot do anything about Kosovo and that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti cannot be managed. “Of course, it’s all a lie,” he said.

“The Pristina regime, same as the Ukrainian, is a weapon in the hands of Washington and of the EU, which is toeing the line of America,” Kharchenko said, adding that their goal is to use the “simmering conflict” to put Serbia in its place, because Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic “has raised it from its knees and they want to bring it down on its knees again.”

He voiced his opinion that they want to use the issues of Kosovo, BiH and Republika Srpska to exert pressure on Vucic to join the sanctions against Russia.

“In other words, do things in a way that he has to act on several fronts, which he does not have the strength for,” said the Russian Ambassador.
