Serbia’s Justice Minister Maja Popovic said that Serbia is efficiently executing the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), and pointed to the examples of good practice in the execution of these judgments, said the Ministry in a press release.

At a meeting with Christophe Poirel, the Director-General of the Council of Europe (CoE) Directorate-General for Human Rights and Rule of Law, Popovic said the Justice Ministry is “in a transparent and inclusive way” preparing a new set of judiciary laws so that the legal solutions could be adopted in line with the deadline prescribed by the Constitutional Law.

Popovic said the Ministry’s activities are coordinated with the Venice Commission rapporteurs, “with whom excellent cooperation has been established in work to date, and whose visit is expected in September this year,” said the press release.

Poirel said the Council of Europe is Serbia’s partner and voiced readiness to continue this cooperation in future, at a very high level, in order to achieve all results in the field of strengthening the rule of law.
