International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission chief Jan Kees Martijn said on Wednesday that projections for Serbia’s economic growth in 2021 had been revised upwards from 6 to 6.5 percent.

A government press release quoted him as telling Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali that the Serbian economy is reporting better than expected results during its recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. He added that the IMF projection for Serbia’s growth next year is 4.5 percent.

It said that they discussed next year’s budget, reforms of the Tax Authority and the energy sector with Brnabic saying that Serbia has maintained its natural gas reserves and is in a better situation than a number of European countries.
