US Ambassador Christopher Hill told the FoNet news agency that Moscow wanted the Russia and Serbian foreign ministers to sign the consultations plan at the UN in New York to justify the war in Ukraine.
Speaking a day after he called for an explanation, Hill said that he has seen the plan and added that there isn’t a lot in it. According to the ambassador, the question is why Russia wanted it signed. He recalled that Russia’s actions have been condemned even by China.
He said that Washington wanted an explanation because it seemed strange that Serbia signed a document with Russia at the end of the UN General Assembly week in New York. He said this is not about Serbia but about Russia’s behavior. The question is why anything should be signed with them now, he said.
