The Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo said on Monday that a handball club was not denied entry into Kosovo for a game in Kosovska Mitrovica.

A press release said that the Kosovo Police refused to allow the Arilje handball team to cross into Kosovo to play a game with Trepca in Kosovska Mitrovica. It said that this was “a brutal violation of the agreement on freedom of movement”.

“The explanation given at the administrative crossing that no athlete from Serbia can cross into Kosovo unless the Ministry of Sport in Pristina is informed in advance is absurd and completely incorrect,” the press release said adding that there is no document that obliges athletes from Serbia proper to inform the authorities in Pristina or ask their permission to enter kosovo to compete.
