The first Serbian war crimes prosecutor said that President Aleksandar Vucic ruined evidence against a war-time Bosnian army commander indicted but released on charges of war crimes against Serbs.

Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic told Belgrade weekly NIN that Vucic ruined evidence against Bosnian commander Naser Oric who operated out of Srebrenica all through the war. Oric was indicted by the Hague Tribunal for war crimes against Serbs in areas around Srebrenica but was freed for lack of evidence.

“Searching for evidence against Oric we found a witness who was with him during the war. He gave us the location of a site where 12 Serbs were killed. That protected witness testified that Oric personally killed a judge by stabbing him in the eye with a bayonet and then slitting his throat,” Vukcevic said, adding that Vucic who was prime minister at the time described the protected witness on TV. “That evidence was ruined. Whenever he says something about a criminal case he contaminates it,” Vukcevic said. According to him, Serbia is being ruled by what he called the anti-Hague lobby.

Speaking about Republic Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac, he said that she has been committing crimes for years. “She failed to react to several cases (involving the authorities) and that is a crime by extension – abuse of official post. The prosecutor has to do her job. She is the sole candidate for the post because that suits the authorities. They would not like a prosecutor like myself. She does not understand the job and has no results,” Vukcevic said, adding that the authorities have been using organized crime figures for political purposes.
