Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Tuesday that agreement had been reached to raise the minimum wage next year.

Speaking after a meeting of the Socio-Economic Council, the Finance Minister said that the minimum hourly wage would be 230 Dinars (1 Euro – 117 Dinars). He added that the minimum monthly wage would be raised by 14.3 percent to 40,020 Dinars.

The raise will increase business costs at annual level by some 350 million Euro, he said and added that the government will raise the pre-tax wages to 21,712 Dinars to reduce the risk of layoffs because of the higher minimum wage.
