Spokespeople for the workers at the Fiat plant in Kragujevac said Tuesday that the Stellantis company made them a new offer of jobs abroad under which they would spend three months in Slovakia and one month at home.

The workers who do not wish to accept the ‘three plus one’ offer can work in companies in Kragujevac and Velika Plana, with a severance pay of 790 Euro (1 Euro – 118 Dinars) per year of employment, Fiat workers said following their meeting with the head of the President’s cabinet Ivica Kojic, Minister of Economy Andjelka Atanackovic and CEOs of several military industry companies. Stellantis is planning to make electric cars at the Fiat plant.

FIAT Automobiles Serbia plant negotiating team member Djordje Milojevic said that there are now two offers for jobs abroad. “One is the old offer. That is an offer to go abroad for two years. The other offer is ‘three plus one’. We still have to see the details, how we go there, how we return. So, three months abroad, one month at home. That is Stellantis’ new offer”, said Milojevic.

Head of the Fiat Plastics plant Independent Union Zoran Miljkovic said that 492 workers will be laid off, which he said was solely the fault of the Stellantis company because it failed to present the ‘three plus one’ offer earlier. “In the next two, three months 250 people will be able to get jobs in the Zastava Trevo factory in Kragujevac and 150 at the BSS combat vehicles factory in Velika Plana. However, this is not 100 per cent certain. People first have to show their skills and undergo training so they could then get employment contracts,” said Miljkovic.

All the other workers, more than 1,000 of them, have been given seven days to decide if they will go to Slovakia or stay in Serbia.
