FIAT Plastika employees said on Tuesday that they would escalate their strike and called staff at other companies in the FIAT Chrysler Automobiles Serbia system to join them in protests on the streets of the city of Kragujevac.
FIAT Plastika staff have been striking following failed talks with the company management who refused to meet their mainly financial demands. The plant makes bumpers for the FIAT 500 L model.
A strike committee statement accused the management of continuing its “arrogant behavior, ignoring the justified demands, breaking the law and ignoring orders from labor inspectors” and added that the protest was inevitably escalating. It also accused the management of trying to financially exhaust the strikers.
It said that FCA Serbia management disobeyed labor inspectors who ordered the company to hand employees workplace rules.
