European Pride Organisers Association President Kristine Garina told N1 on Wednesday that she expects Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic to fulfill the promise she made to her about EuroPride.
Garina said that Brnabic sent her a letter promising the full support of the Serbian government, adding that she now expects her to fulfill that promise. She also expects Brnabic to take a firm stand on President Aleksandar Vucic’s statement that EuroPride would not be allowed to go ahead by clearly stating that this would be against the law.
Garina said EuroPride organizers would take the case to court if the Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) does officially ban EuroPride. She recalled that Pride organizers turned to the courts to overturn earlier bans on pride parades in Serbia and were successful every time because the bans were unconstitutional.
We will have a parade, a lot of international guests, international leaders will watch to see what happens, she said and added that the authorities have to reduce the threat and not pull back from it.
