Education Minister Branko Ruzic told European Union Delegation chief Emanuele Giaufret that Serbia is committed to joining the EU and is implementing reforms in a number of areas, including a comprehensive reform of the education system.

A government press release quoted him as saying that the health and safety of everyone in the education system is a priority, adding that schools are not places where the coronavirus is being transmitted.

Ambassador Giaufret is quoted as saying that the EU strongly supports Serbia on its path to the European Union, as well as the education reform process. He said that the European Commission welcomes the government’s continued strategic commitment to education reform and is closely monitoring its implementation. He also encouraged the government to increase budget funding for education and science to help the Serbian economy become more competitive.
