Serbian Parliament Speaker Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday that the opposition is refusing to appear on political talk shows even though they have been offered that opportunity but several opposition officials said they would not appear on pro-regime media.

Dacic, leader of ruling coalition member the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), told the state TV (RTS) that an agreement was reached in the European Parliament-mediated inter-party dialogue on the rule of everyone getting a chance to appear on the RTS and a recommendation to do the same on private media outlets.

Dacic, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and former President Boris Tadic appeared on a talk show on the pro-regime TV Pink on Sunday evening which turned into an argument on virtually every issue raised. The talk show drew both positive and negative reactions in the public. Tadic said he had to accept the invitation to debate with the two top state officials. TV Pink has offered a 15 minute evening slot for all political parties before the elections.

Also on Wednesday, Patriotic Block presidential candidate, Dveri Movement leader Bosko Obradovic told the Nova S morning show that the pro-regime national media outlets have been inviting opposition officials but that he still won’t appear on TV Pink “following 10 years of insults, slander and lies” from its owner Zeljko Mitrovic.

Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) deputy leader Marinika Tepic said in a Twitter post that she won’t appear on TV Pink because “it is a factory of evil … which has been rewarded with state loans and failure to pay taxes”.

United Serbia coalition presidential candidate Zdravko Ponos said he would appear on TV Pink but added that he couldn’t appear when he was initially planned because of earlier plans. He said he would accept a TV duel with President Aleksandar Vucic on any station.
