Crowd celebrates Novak Djokovic’s record time on top of ATP list

Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic celebrated the start of his record 311th week at the top of the ATP list with fans in front of his family’s restaurant in Belgrade on Monday.

Novak’s father organized a gathering of several hundred fans in front of the restaurant. The tennis player told the crowd that he was touched by the attention. “This is a special day for me, my family and all of Serbia…. I am deeply honored to represent you. I know what I do is nerve racking but I hope you enjoy it,” he said.

A video fo Djokovic’s best plays was screened on the facade of Belgrade City Hall on Monday evening and Parliament, a central fountain and two bridges lit in the colors of the Serbian flag in his honor.
